In the late Qing Dynasty, the thought of saving nation by education which was put forward by Wei Xin School is an important content in Chinese neoteric education history. It began at the end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century. During that time, China was in an internal revolt and foreign invasion, idealistic circles was facing a great impact and transformation and the men of insight wanted to find a way to save the nation and the people. Its main thought is that education is the may tool of reforming and improving the society. The members of Wei Xin School represented by Kang Youwei, Liang Qichao and Yanfu introduced the educational system of neoteric western capitalism as well as proclaimed disadvantages of Chinese traditional education. In addition, they made the theory of saving nation by education into practice by means of establishing newspaper offices, setting up schools and encouraging institute. Through their unceasing endeavors, they promulgated plenty of measures for reforming education and established Beijing Normal University. All of these showed the thought of saving nation by education of Wei Xin School. The thought of saving nation by education provided a new content for the educational modernization in our country. It also provided historical enlightenment and reference for implementing the strategy of developing the country by relying on science and education. Meanwhile, as a thought of patriotism, it contained great historical significance and prompted people's sense of responsibility and mission for the whole nation.
