The Feeling Of Xu Bing's Installation Works

Since 1910, Marcel Duchamp submitted his work Fountain, a urinal with his name signed, to the Society of Independent Artists exhibit, Installation Art has become a new art style, included in the history of art.The differences between "Installation" and other kinds of art, is the people have been studying, discussing and confusing. This paper is trying to analysis the differences between Installation and other kinds of Art base on the foundation of the Installation Art's concept. And then discuss the expression pattern and technique of Installation through the Xu Bing's Installation works.In 1977, he enrolled at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, became the last generation of the workers, peasants and soldiers. After finishing his undergraduate studies, Xu continued to teach in the academy. However, in 1985, an exhibition in North Korea changed his thought on Art. After that, he thinks the Art is not a purely aesthetic, but an interaction between human and the society.In 1987, after liberation of the Cultural Revolution, Xu began his own new culture movement. Around 1987, Xu Bing began working on the installation "Book from the Sky", and then he became the pioneer of Installation in China and been famous in Western word.Thus, as the leader of after 85s the most influential artists of Chinese contemporary Installation artist, his works are well worth researching and discussion because of the connotation and technique.This paper is trying to introduce the transaction between material and languages after the 85 new wave movement through Xu Bing's works, to proclaim the culture connotation more clearly and more pointedly.
