Entering the 21 century, technology is developing rapidly and the international environment is changing unpredictably. Meanwhile, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games has built up a favorable stage between China and the world in trade and cooperation as well as political negotiation. In such an epoch, enhancing minorities' English competence seems more and more important. The reasons are as follows:1) from the geographical angle, most minority regions are located near the border area, which plays a very important role in protecting motherland's peace and union; 2) from the economic angle, the improvement of minorities'English quality can accelerate regional economy directly. Furthermore, it can also vitalize national economy; 3) from the cultural angle; it is favorable for developing national culture and introduces more about the minority's customs and culture relics to the world. It is also favorable for absorbing what is advanced in other civilizations.However, in the present English teaching process in minority areas, for example, the tedious teaching method is still the mainstream; minority students'special living environment, linguistic environment, characteristics and psychology are often ignored; the research about it is not so much; etc. So the chief aims of this study are as follows:first, minorities'English teaching is the essential part of national education system. But until mow there is not so much research on minorities'English teaching especially based on the theory of Multiple Intelligence, so the author, as an English teacher working in the minority area, has the responsibility and obligation to stimulate minority education and also wishes to make her contribution to it. Second, based on the theory of multiple intelligence proposed by Gardner, taking the Hulunbeier area as an example, the author will discuss how to combine it with minority students'English teaching and learning so as to improve their interests and strengthen comprehensive skills of English.After analyzing the causes, the author takes minority students in Hulunbeier College as an example to carry out the empirical study for one semester. The empirical study mainly focuses on minority students'music and interpersonal intellegences. After the teaching experiment of one semester, through questionnaires and the data analysis of tests and CET results, we come to the conclusions of:1) the Multiple Intelligence Theory has a positive effect on minority students'learning English 2) based on this theory, minority students' comprehensive abilities such as expression, feedback and understanding are greatly improved. 3) the Multiple Intelligence Theory is scientific and feasible for minority English teaching.
