Since Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory appeared in the world,the educators and educational researchers at home and aboard have begun to start their studies by applying the Multiple Intelligence Theory to the teaching practices.The results are remarkable and play an important role in guiding the various discipline.Because the students with English learning difficulties are extremely common at schools,educators and educational researchers have been focusing their studies on this topic and how to find effective teaching strategies to help to transform those students with English learning difficulties is the subject of their studies.This research paper is based on the Multiple Intelligence Theory which discusses how to combine the theory and the students with English learning difficulties,using practical teaching strategies to improve their English by employing their advantages of intelligence and depriving their disadvantages of intelligence.First it elaborates the source of the topic and the significance of the research.Then it introduces Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory,the literature review on the Multiple Intelligence Theory at home and aboard,the concept of students with learning difficulties and English learning abilities,and especially focus on the strategies to transform the students with English learning difficulties and the methods used in conducting the research.After that,the writer conducts case studies towards four students with English learning difficulties in Grade Eight.By doing the questionnaire of students' causes of English learning difficulties and students' intelligence structure,the causes of students' English learning difficulties and intelligence structure are analyzed.The causes are the personal characteristics,the teachers,the schools,the families,and the society.Finally,on the premise of the understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of students' intelligence and causes of their English learning difficulties,with the Multiple Intelligence Theory as an guidance,the writer decides to use practical strategies to teach those students in accordance with their aptitude,which can bring their advantages of intelligence to the best use,help to develop their intelligence and increase their self-confidence step by step,and promote their interest in Englishlearning so as to achieve the ultimate goal of their transformation.Due to the writer's limited knowledge and experience in doing research,the conversion strategies and methods developed in this study still need further improvement.Meanwhile,because of lack of time and energy,the range of experimental samples chosen in this study is narrow and lack in universality.In order to transform the students with English learning difficulties more effectively,the writer will make a joint effort with the teachers of other subjects studying the students with learning difficulties,exploring a set of learning strategies aiming at fully developing the students' advantages of intelligence,depriving the students' disadvantages of intelligence,promote the students all-around abilities and transform the students successfully.
