Changyao'poetry is mainly characterized by heroism, miserable experiences and overwhelming miseries, the recognition of life and the meaning-seeking of life, which sometimes confused him. His poetical world is made of all those heroically tragic characters. In each phase of his life, this heroically tragic character appears and hides now and then, sometimes, it seems to be intense, and sometimes depressed or gloomy. In the early stage, he led a rough life in Qinghai; in this period and in the beginning of 80's, his poetry was filled with love and belief. He tried to describe life, miseries and home in a positive, tough and colorful manner, in the hope of spiritually overcoming the miseries. In this way, the heroically tragic character performed in an invisible manner. In the middle of 80's, Changyao felt confused when he faced lots of contradictions in society, personal thought, writing, life and personal emotion. In this period, he still insisted on seeking the positive meaning of life, though he was confused and lonely. And in his situation, the heroically tragic character in his poems was greatly extended and became stronger. The author aims to analyze the process of this heroically tragic character in Changyao's poetry within its capability. This paper mainly includes the Preface, Chapter One, Chapter Two and Chapter Three. Part one of the Preface describes all Chanyao's life and recapitulates his poem's style. Part two introduces the present researching situation of Changyao and his works and why I write this paper. In Chapter One, mainly taking the samples of Chanyao's poems in his early time, people could feel that Changyao faces life's tribulation and unfortunately fate with love and brave faith, it is an expression, tragic but moving and unyielding. In Chapter Two, quoting the poems in Changyao's middle time and analyzing several groups of main constructions in them, it attempts to further highlight his poems'solemn and stirring characteristic. Meantime, this chapter is a very important connection with the next one. In Chapter Three, analyzing his works written under the condition that he was oppressed by inner annoy and tragic real life, it is a stage, moving on while hesitating, looking for but worried about the future, wanting to know why but nothing. In this stage, people could see that his poems'solemn and stirring characteristic is maximized.Tragedy emphasizes its ending, and the spirit of it is the contradiction and the conflicting. These are the sublimation of tragedy. Although Changyao committed suicide, yet we can still appreciate that as his last resisting act against fate. It is so tragic and magnificent of him to bid the world farewell with his great poetical attitude.
