One of the most important artists in Mexican arts history of the 20th century, Jose Clement Orozco (1883—1949), not only has excellent art gifts and unique personality charm, but also is regarded as a symbolic artist who has the most distinct Mexican characteristics. As Orozco being the core artist of the big three of Mexican fresco, his works condense Mexican local history and culture and national spirit, presenting rich Mexican humanity characteristics and social customs, which establishes the unique status of Mexican art in the world's art history. Not only do his works combine the features of the European Renaissance, European classic arts and modern arts, but also show his love, a Mexican's, for his national culture and history with his mature and unique art style. Closely paying attention to the reality with his peculiar keen sense, he displays the social life in Mexico under different specific ages with monument-like characters and mysterious tincture full of metaphor.This dissertation aims at recognizing Orozco's fresco art and its influences, and meanwhile, gaining some revelations and inspirations on the issues about public character of arts, nationality and folk inheritance of arts, and artist's social responsiblity according to the current development situation of modern fresco in China.
