Literary classics is a part of the human spiritual civilization and has always been a shinning star in the field of literature and art, which bear the heavy responsibility of cultural heritage and play an important role in the creation and appreciation of oriented. However, literary classic has suffered unprecedented challenges and doubt in the context of post-modern, this thesis studies literature classics constitution and spirit core of post-modern society, aims to have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding.This thesis first reviews the historical destiny of literary classics; from the original unit of measure to the time when printing became popular and the rise of popular culture and the consumption era, and people's views on the classic has been change as times change. Formation of the literary classics has been restrained by the mainstream ideology, and literary classics in the consumer market is often seen as a control power of aesthetic and tools of dissemination practices, and can be generated into real literary creation models quickly. Literary classics in post-modern society takes a mission of making decision which is "classic" in popular literature surging up and in the return of traditional literature; it has a specific paradigm and generating policy. The formation of the new classics is not necessarily exclusive of traditional culture of, but often with traditional as origins continued to develop. Meanwhile, the restriction of official discourse on literary classics also makes writers cannot fully in accordance with their own wishes and hopes to establish the classic. Last part of this thesis analysis the literary classic kernel to reveal its essential characteristics:aesthetic, moral nature, communications, practices and authenticity. Literary classic is not only a product of aesthetic ideology, but also has a function of moral education, communication, expression of real functions.
