Listening is one of the most commonly used language skills in communication. It's also one of the most important means of language acquisition. As an indispensable part of Chinese teaching as a foreign Language, Chinese listening teaching is considered by international students the most difficult to grasp and least effective. In traditional Chinese listening teaching as a foreign Language, listening training only focuses on recognition and memory of the language forms in listening comprehension. The teaching mode is dull and ineffective. Students'evaluation of the listening course is not high. In view of the above problems, the paper makes research into how Schema Theory is applied in the course of Chinese listening teaching as a foreign Language. Firstly, it briefly introduces the basic concepts, characteristics and classification of Schema Theory, analyzes the cognitive processes of listening comprehension, and expounds the factors which influence the processes. Secondly, it discusses the relationship between Schema Theory and listening comprehension, and points out the important roles of Schema Theory in the process of listening comprehension. Thirdly, it designs three stages of the specific application of Schema Theory in the course of Chinese listening teaching as a foreign Language. Fourthly, it offers some suggestions for the improvement of Chinese listening teaching as a foreign Language. By concluding and probing into the author's own teaching practice and experience, this paper attempts to make useful exploration to improve the present situation of Chinese listening teaching.
