The War Betwin Gao Regime And Yuwen Regime In HeNan

There have been a lot of research results of the war betwin Gao regime(高氏政权)and YuWen regime(宇文政权),but they lack of the research about the war in HeNan(河南)during this period. This paper takes it as research object which would achieve three targets.One the first) is that making a comprehensive description of the war in HeNan.The second is that discussing the decision, course and influence of the war.The third is that discussing the geographical situation,administrative region setting and fort building.The text is divided into two parts. Part one discussed three problems,the range of He Nan,the reason of the war,the important battles in He Nan. The sphere about HeNan in this paper is the mentioned He Nan in the passage is the mid-west area in today's He Nan, from Ji Yuan city in the north to Nan Yang city in the south, from San Menxia city in the east to Zheng Zhou city in the west.The west is mountainous and the east is plain.The reason of the war in He Nan is that He Nan is in the center of China. On one hand, it is a ideal base to control China. On the other hand, the worshipping to the center in the tradition of China made the authority control this area.The stuggle betwin Empire XiaoWu of Northern Wei dynasty(北魏孝武帝)and Gao Huan was the foundation of the war in HeNan. XiaoWUdi failed,but because of the resistance of the aborigines,GaoHuan lost the control of XiaoHan area(崤函地区)which was vital terrain in that time. Therefore, XiWei obtained the priority of attack.This was an important reason for the the final victory of Bei Zhou.The battle of Sha Yuan was the turning point of the war.After this war, GaoHuan lost the dominant position to the of YuwenTai. Since then the two sides experinced many battles such as HeQiao battle,MangShan battle,HeYin battle.Although Yuwen regime cuold not occupy LuoYang,it controlled the east and west area of LuoYang which became the enormous threat to LuoYang.Gao regime cuold not change this situation until it was perished. I think the important reason that Yuwen reigime cuold keep a foothold in Henan is that it obtained the support from the aborigines.For example the generals from Henan in Yuwen, s were more than it in Gao, s army. The reason of this situation is that the west escaping of the Empire XiaoWu of Northern Wei dynasty strengthened the legitimacy of YuWen regime.The second part is mainly discussing the administrative planning and the building of the city of both parts.Because the equal strength betwin the two countries,the war in HeNan struggled. Therefore, they all attached importance to the control and of the fortresses in HeNan. Part two of this paper focuses on the administrative region Settings and the important fortresses. On this basis,I summarize four features about the war. The first is that the increasing quantity of regions and fortresses in the war.The second is that a lot of regions and fortresses were setted in the traffic arteries or hard terrains.The third is that the regions and fortresses formed a system which could attack or defend.The forth is that the two countries made the soldiers' farm in HeNan to support the war. By studing the war betwin the two countries,my profound experience is that the geographical situation was very important in the ancient wars.
