Study On Culture Landscapes Of Place Names Of Administrative Regions In Henan

Place names as a special non-material cultural heritage, which contain a wealth of historical and cultural significance, causing widespread attention around the world, is a value asset of human society. Because of this, the study of place names and the culture landscapes of place names attached the attention of scholars. We know Henan Province has a deep history with rich resource names. By studying the cultural landscape of administrative regions in Henan can not only found naming rules, historical and cultural significance, but also understand the relationship between the formation and the natural environment, history and culture.In this paper, with today’s 126 counties in Henan Province landskommun place name as the object. During the study, according to the theory of cultural geography and toponymy and system is given priority to, both the theory of linguistics, sociology, history, geography and other disciplines to support. Then through the historical literature method, research method and statistics method, classifying its classification, and compare it with its former scholars who have done the classification research on place names in Henan. From the angle of the settlement distribution, using the mathematical statistics method combined with GIS spatial analysis and DEM analysis on its spatial distribution, and analyzes the relationship between the three main types of place names’ distribution and the related factors. Through literature analysis method, to determine the Henan place names’ form time and its dynasty, analyzing the evolution of place names and its stability. This paper is trying to provide support to the protection of Henan place names and the construction of the Huaxia civilization inheritance innovation zone, then the following conclusions:(1)The type of the cultural landscape of administrative regions in Henan:Fist, there are 48 place names named by the single social and cultural matters, accounting for 38.1% of the total. These reflect the names of Henan Administrative Region has a long history and a rich culture characteristics. Second, due to a single natural geographical entity named have 47, accounting for 37.3%, reflecting the natural and regional characteristics of Henan Administrative Region names. Third, the rest of 126 names of administrative zones are composite class names, reflecting the diversity and complexity of place names in Henan Administrative Region.(2) The spatial distribution of Henan Administrative Region of names: ① Plains has the most place names, and there are 91, but basin has the least, and there are 9. The density of place names in plains is largest, about 10.3 at each of km2, and the mountain’s place names density is small, and it is 2.9 at each of km2. ②Below the altitude of 200m has the most place names, there are 104, accounting for 82.5% of the total. Above the altitude of 500m has the least place names, and there are 4, only accounting 4% of the total. ③ There are a number of place names distribute within 5 km of the horizontal distance from the river. The number of it is 93, and it accounted for 74% of the total, however, there are only 3 place names at 15 km above the horizontal distance from the river. ④ The place names have no strong tendency in the aspect of slope, because of the sufficient light in everywhere. Above all, with the different natural environmental factors, the spatial distribution of Henan Administrative Region of names showed a different characteristics, overall closely related to the Henan natural environment.(3) The main type of Henan Administrative Region names’ performance:First, the number of the place names, which are related to the physiognomy types is relatively small. There are only 19, about account for only 15% of the total number of place names in Henan Administrative Region, and its spatial distribution is more dispersed, moreover, most of them associated with the mountain, and there are 10. Second, place names related to water are most, there are 43, accounting for 34% of the total, and mainly spatially distributed in Yiluo river basin, Wei river basin, Ying river basin. Third, there are the largest place names related with the Historical cultural factors, there are 55, accounting for 43.6% of the total, and mainly distributed in the center and the east of Henan. That is because these areas early development in the history, and there are more ancient and ancient city.(4)The evolution of Henan Administrative Region names:The formation of place names are concentrated in Qin and Han dynasties, Sui and Tang dynasties, Republic of China and after founding of PRC. There are 70 place names relatively strong stability in Henan Administrative Region names, accounting for 55.6% of the total. Among them, place names named by the single social and cultural matters are most, there are 31. Followed by a single natural geographical entity named, there are 25.The last and the least are composite class names, and there are only 14.1n general, place names named by the single social and cultural matters are relatively stability, it is adapted to the historical development of Henan characteristics.
