Lang Yuxiu Vocal Music Art Research

Mr. LangYuxiu is one of the first batch of vocalists that study bel canto overseas, and returned in China at the beginning of 20th century. She is not only the bel canto pioneer in China, but also one of the forerunners that explore the Italian bel canto localization.LangYuxiu, Zhou Xiaoyan, Yu Yixuan and Huang Youkui are dubbed the "four famous Dan"(Dan is one of the four main roles in traditional opera)in Chinese vocal field.So,Mr. LangYuxiu occupy a decisive position in the development of the Chinese vocality art road.Her singing and teaching not only have their own style, also has the Times features of the last century sea turtles singers,which are reflected in her singing and teaching practice.This article emphatically study vocal and singing of LangYuXiu.Lang Yuxiu's vocal performance reveals some distict traits such as epochal character, broadness of repertoire and diversity of singing techniques. She has always been exploring how to combine the bel canto vocalizations with Chinese national style and language, so as to achieve the bel canto localization.Therefore she had made great efforts: translate advanced western vocal music theory works;to national artists learning Chinese national folk art singing; pay attention to stage practice, often singing the songs which are masses acceptance and reflect the features of Times; in teaching, focus on language training and has strict requirements to students' pronunciation in singing, etc. summarizing Lang Yuxiu's vocal performances and teaching achievements in many years, the writer makes a conclusion of her vocal theory as make three insistences, and attaching one importance. That is, insists on the principle of vocal training, insists on the integration of Chinese and Western, insists on the inheritance of tradition, and attaching importance to the language of singing.The nearly 100 years old devoted her life to the vocal music in the 20th century, and for the development of Chinese vocality art made outstanding contribution. Mr. LangYuxiu in vocal music and teaching reflect the rigorous research attitude and indifferent to fame and wealth character, she deservedly become the learning and emulate model in Chinese vocal field.
