The teaching of Chinese painting in university's fine arts is an important professional course. It has three important features: its nationality; its characteristic of painting, its oriental special art form with world characteristic. The education of traditional Chinese painting has two forms: one is the form of teaching by master; the other is academy of painting. Academy of Painting in Song Dynasty has occupied an important position in the history of ancient Chinese painting. It is also the peak period in the Chinese painting education which has influenced the development of later Chinese painting. The serious disadvantages of today's art examination system lead to more and more students with poor knowledge, which not only hindered the development of today's art education, but also restricted the development of Chinese painting. The system of Academy of Painting in Song Dynasty, as fine example of Chinese art education, should arouse the art educationists'deep thinking and deserve our learning from it. It can make us understand the foundation and the basic spirit of traditional Chinese ideas and provide implications on the teaching of Chinese painting in university. It can further deepen our understanding of Creative methods of meticulous flower and bird painting. The thesis point out how to innovate modern meticulous flower and bird painting when inherited ancient one, and how to determine the methods and principles of the painting and innovate the methods with reference to ancient methods.
