A Qualitative Study On Formation Of Music Image

Music image is a crucial part of music learning, which is form of music in our brains. It is also an important condition in formation of music mind. Music image is a kind of auditory presentation. It is named "Audiation" by Edwin E Gordon, who is a famous music educator in US. Music memory image, the first stage of music image, is referred to "inner hearing".This dissertation takes the formation of music image as point of penetration, and it has reviewed the most representative research reports on music image and inner hearing to help the researcher getting the ideas, methods and the inspirations of research operation. Inspired by the stems of "Advanced Measures of Music Audiation", the researcher took variations as the main instructional materials, following the formation of memory image, movement of image, and formation of imaginative image, to make a study of action research. The dissertation also takes purposive sampling, followed by the conditions of "Advanced Measures of Music Audiation", to choose two music learners. There are some differences between the two learners, such as gender, age, environment of education, the music aptitude profile, to find the probably problems in music learning by the AMMA test, to observe the course of formation of music image by the instruction and the interviews,to analyze the results. Then, the proper ways are selected to adapt the learners. It should be pointed out that the aim of music learning is not a copy of performance, but a mode of thinking. People should change their minds on this issue.With the development of cognitive science, we should focus on memory, thinking and imagination. All these include the whole process of the formation of music image. Through the study of the action research in the formation of music image, this dissertation has concluded the steps of instructions, pointed out the possible problems in the formation and movement of music image and offered the suggestions are thus given.
