The concept of "shape" actually belongs to "image", however, why this paper considers the significance of"shape"is greater than"image", we make a discussion through combining the function and position of"image"in last chapter. The basic conclusion in the Chapter III is"meaning grasped imageries forgotten". In this conclusion, we also find that"image"plays an important role, finally"image"will be forgotten , but it is undeniable for"image"during the process of shaping"meaning",which shows that"forgetting image"is just like the process of"kicking down the ladder"and there is only one way to go. However, when we introduce the concept of"shape", the process takes a turn as well, and there is a fork in the road either. Why is it so? This is from the concept of"image", which seems to be too board compared with contemporary art theory, and it is not defined on the extent of copying nature. To replicate nature objects completely by traditional watercolor painting called"image",and to take out the essence of nature objects by abtract watercolor painting also called"image". Even, the paper considers that"image"also refers to replicate the nature objects in distinctive and local way by imagery watercolor. Considering that, the paper defines"image"as the symbols of overall copying for nature objects. In addition, it introduces the concept of"shape", which is applied to replicate the nature objects in distinctive and local way by imagery watercolor. It might belong to"image", but with a high degree of independence . In the performance of imagery watercolor, usually, it is not require complete"image"but to extract the local feature of ideographic picture from"image", that is"shape". Meanwhile, it is as few as possible for"image"to join in picture creation. And"forgetting image"has a new implication. This is the implication of"fogetting image but remembering shape"in this thesis.
