In 1927, Doctor Xiao Youmei founded state-run music institute in Shanghai. Since then, Bel Canto was introduced to China officially, which started the new era in Chinese music history. During the last 80 years from 1927, Bel Canto has experienced preliminary stage (1927——1948), argument stage (1949——1957), circuitous stage(1958——1978), and rising stage(1979to this day). Finally, it took root in the land of China and rose up luxuriantly. At present, the outstanding problem of Bel Canto is the in-depth transmission in China. In-depth transmission means the transmission of professional singers and educators with Bel Canto to literature and art institutions; the transmission of big cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenyang, and Wuhan, to the medium-and small-sized cities; the transmission of music institutions for higher learning to junior college, technical secondary school, and various secondary schools in China; the final transmission of "knowing-that" superficial learning of Chinese vast populace to "knowing-the-reason" in-depth content. Therefore, the musical accomplishment of Chinese populace can follow that of European and American developed countries, which achieves the equal enjoyment to see and hear between Bel Canto and Chinese folk style singing. In the in-depth transmission, it follows the logic thinking of "socialism with Chinese characteristics" and puts forward the wording revision of "Bel Canto nationalization" to "Bel Canto with Chinese characteristics".
