Cross border ethnic group is the one, whose traditional residence separated by modern political boundaries because of historical reasons, and lives in the neighboring countries. China has 31 cross border ethnic group, and hezhe-nanai groups are one of them, living cross the border of China and Russia. Both the traditional music culture exists in not only diachronic commonness, but also synchronic aberrance. So the research of the change could deepen the acquaintance of the concerning groups by lively information and important reference of abroad. And regarded the music as media, we can enhance the communication between the two countries.Because of the particularity of the cross border ethnic groups, it is becoming the focus in academia. However, the perspectives are mostly about ethnology, anthropology and history, and the research of music culture is lag. It is embodied in the following aspects. First, there is clear acquaintance about domestic part, and little acquaintance about foreign music culture, and is short of the collection of material. Second, there is little research in the denomination of group makes use of fieldwork information of both. Music is a part of the social culture, so it is badly in need of improving the lag of the music research of cross border ethnic group.The research methods are based on the theories and methods of Ethnomusicology firstly and the research findings of cross border ethnic group, and also the anthropology, history, and linguistics. Through the scientific fieldwork, we can acquire the firsthand information, which is overall, objective, and detail. And then, we could describe and analyze. Finally, combine the music with culture background, and explain the music.Hezhe-nanai were an old fishing and hunting group in China. After being the cross border ethnic group in 1858, they influenced by the Han group in China and Russian culture, and the social ways of productive lifestyles became change. In the new culture background, the traditional musical culture shaped different ways of development. The aim of the paper is researching into the present situation and the change pattern of both.I hope that it will contribute to the research of hezhe traditional music, explore the research pattern of cross border ethnic group music, and improve the lag of cross border ethnic group music in our country.
