Mid-Tang is a turning point and is a time full of changes and diversifications in the history of Chinese poetry. There are generations of masters and various schools of poetry. Zhang Ji is one of the famous poets. He is famous for Yuefu (the Music Conservatory) and is called"Zhang-Wang Yufu (Music Conservatory)"together with another famous poet Wang Jian. Among the collection of 470 works kept till now, there are 90 belonging to Yuefu (music conservatory) and the rest are modern poems. Although scholars have made many researches on his works in the past time and have achieved great success, they mainly concentrate on Zhang Ji's Yuefu (music conservatory) while little focus on his poems. Based on the previous study, the writer gives an overall analysis to Zhang Ji's works on the background of mid-Tang. And the writer further explores his creation orientation, the influence on the trend of thought of mid-Tang poetry and that on the following poets.There are five chapters. In the first chapter, the thesis gives an overall introduction to Zhang Ji and his works. In the second chapter, the writer describes his creation background in terms of the mid-Tang changes in style and the common psychology of poets in Dali and Zhenguan. In the third chapter, the thesis gives a detailed analysis on creation features in terms of content orientation, poetry technique and orientation of aesthetics in the process of the comprehensive analysis on Zhang Ji's works. In the fourth chapter, the writer emphases the overlap among Zhang Ji and other poets such as Han Yu and Bai Juyi so as to explore the issue of school attribution and his unique characteristics. The fifth chapter, the writer describes the influence of Zhang Ji's poems on Yuan and poetry and the following poets. In the last chapter, the contribution of Zhang Ji's poems to poetry is given.
