As a cultural and social phenomenon, Buddhism Revival has become a Hot Topic in academic circle recent years. Many scholars have made study from the different perspective of subjects. Based on the case study of the Town of Nanhu, Zhuanglang, Gansu, the present paper examines the current Buddhism Revival with the system and theory of sociology to present the causes and microcosmic function of Buddhism Revival in Rural Community. The research suggested, first, the local Buddhism is with the following male, middle-aged, literate, middle-class. Secondly, most of the believers are sickly, or influenced by others. Thirdly, the new believers and the new temples are the most. Fourth, most of the donations are from folk elite. Fifth, most of the female believers can not understand the creed. The paper suggested that the causes of Buddhism Revival are various: the base of Buddhism Revival is the worshipping or believing in more than one god. Alienation and norm-losing is the catalyzer of Buddhism Revival, the dilemma of peasants is the inner drive, the combination of the ethics of Buddhism and common culture is the key element, the pursuit of eternal meaning of life is the unexhausted drive, the government policy for freedom of religion believing is the politic insurance. While the microcosmic function embodied in two aspects, the positive one is that it is helpful for health, and normal socialization and self recognition . And the negative one is that the highly recognition of religion weakened the strong sense of affinity and authority and superstition rised in religion clothes. Therefore, the essence of Buddhism Revival is with a dual character. In a word, the paper proofed the views of religion belief in county while found the features of Buddhism Revival in Gansu. And the same time, the paper tried to probe into the problems for how to improve Buddhism Revival in Rural Community on itself and local government.
