Mao Zedong, the great proletarian revolutionist, strategist and thinker, has made an outstanding contribution to the construction and development of the New China. He is also a great statesman with penetrating view. In the process of leading China's revolution, Mao has been watching the big issues of national reunification of which Tibet, as the place that the international community attaches great importance to, has been the focus of his concern. During the early years of PRC's founding, the relationship between the Communist Party of China and Tibet local government is quite complex. However, Mao Zedong made an accurate analysis on the situation of Tibet with his outstanding political skills. Based on the reality of Tibet, he worked out a series of strategies to resolve the Tibet issues, and thus provided for us valuable theoretical basis and practical experience to deal with the issues of Tibet. Therefore studying carefully the policies of Mao Zedong will help us correctly formulate and adjust Tibet policy in the new era, as well as provide historical reference for some serious problems that China currently faced with.By taking Mao Zedong's view to deal with the Tibet issue as the main line and his strategy as the core, this thesis, adopting the methods by combining historical facts with commentary, consulting literatures, induction and deduction, tries to analyze Tibet's social reform under Mao Zedong's leading. It can be revealed that the road to solve Tibet issues successfully is long and tortuous. However, Mao Zedong have grasped the correct direction of Tibet development and carried out flexible pointed strategy through his in-depth analysis of domestic and foreign conditions. Thus it is of vital importance of realism to handle ethic relations in our country. The research about our chairman Mao Zedong and social reform in Tibet indicates that Tibet had always been lasting the feudal serfdom system with a fusion of religion and politics before the reform: backward productive forces, people without dignity. Religious belief is the shackles for broad masses and produced a lot of problems. The conflict between them is unavoidable. However, under the leading of Chairman Mao who solved specific issues from its specific situation, China realized peaceful liberation and democratic reform in Tibet and utterly destroyed the dark, ruthless, savage and backward feudal serfdom system. Millions of oppressed serfs and slaves were freed in all aspects.Concerning about Mao Zedong and the social revolution of Tibet, we mainly study Mao's views, stand and approaches to the Tibet issues. It is of real significance to promote a state unification and religious solidarity when we draw great intelligence in dealing with religious problems and formulating the new period religious policies.
