Rhythm is the backbone of music and the source of musical life. Rhythm is even animportant element in modern music, the status and role of which in music are becomingincreasingly prominent. As one of the basic elements of music, rhythm is the core abilitythat learners must have. Nowadays, more attention is paid to musical rhythm training andcultivating, especially the teaching methods put forward by Dalcroze and Orff, whichembody the importance of rhythm training and cultivating.However, there are still several drawbacks in musical rhythm training, such as thecognition on the correlative conceptions of rhythm and the methods of training anddeveloping rhythm. The cognition on rhythm is always on the primary stage and learnershardly perceive musical rhythm with body.This thesis is designed according to two main routes: one is the analysis of relatedconceptions of rhythm; the other is the discussion on the history and present situation ofmusical rhythm teaching. Furthermore, the author put forward some teaching suggestionsfor the training and teaching of musical rhythm.The thesis is divided into the following parts:Introduction part begins with a brief description of the research topic and thesignificance and purpose of the research.The first part discussed the rhythm-related issues of music. It mainly discussed from atheoretical point of view. First, it analyzed the characteristics and nature of the rhythm;secondly, it discussed the basic elements of the internal rhythm, and relationship amongrhythm, music and human.The second part briefly introduced the history and present situation of musical rhythmteaching at home and abroad based on data collection, collation and analysis. Meanwhilesome problems in musical rhythm teaching were discussed.The third part is about the method and teaching suggestions on the training of musicalrhythm. First, the author gave a brief introduction to musical rhythm. And then, fourmethods of trainning musical rhythm were disscussed. Finnaly, the author put forwardsome strategies and suggestions on musical rhythm training.
