Catholicism spread to China, and developed rapidly in Ming dynasty. Because of Shunzhi and Kangxi抯 permission in Qing dynasty, Catholicism developedfurther and reached the top at the last stage of Kangxi抯 enpowernlent. But at the same time ,揟he dispute over etiquette?broke out in China, Kangxi began to prohibit Catholicism. Then in the periods of Qianlong and Jiaqing and Daoguang抯 enpowerment, the prohibiting policy became more and more strict ,Chinese Catholicism suffered certain blows. As these Missionary continued to work hard, Catholicism still has some influences among the people. Through textual research on the plentiful historic materials, this paper detailedly explores the basic development state of Catholicism, and the policies on Catholicism at the early period of Qing dynasty.
