Rising of Feminism, providing new points of view to investigate society, has reminded htnnan beings to vanish sexual discrimination, thus to build up a fair relationship between two sexes. By using popular songs as a tool to study and analyze questions of female images, readers can understand the limitation of female's situation in Hong Kong from my thesis. Choosing from top ten songs of "Chinese Top Ten Songs Award"and "TVB Top Songs Award"between year 1985 till year 2000, I have collected totally 197 songs excluding the duplicated award songs, non-Cantonese songs, and songs which have no female images in lyrics into my thesis. From the songs above, then I classify, conclude, and analyze deeply to a representative text. There are two main female images have revealed from the lyrics, stereotype and diversity, and most images are stereotyped. Stereotyped female image includes emotions, and the relationship between two sexes is a traditional "respectable men and humble women" or "strong men and weak women"model etc. In addition, those women would only think for men's benefit in the first place. There are five different types of women in this stereotyped female image: a man's gaze, only has appearance's female, to play with love, a "bad woman" an objectively meek and mild's girl, a devoted to love, loyalty female, and a dedicated, without self's woman. From the lyrics, diversify female image actually is the opposite of stereotyped one, and it is not matched with the traditional female image. It can also be separated into two types, one type is an actively in a love relationship, sclfliood type of woman, another one is a love myth suspected woman. Female's independence is still in its first step, and traditional patriarchy remains to be the main gender ideology in Hong Kong culture and society.
