This dissertation explores widely the intellectual relationship between the May Fourth Neo-literature, the May Fourth Movement and the May Thirtieth Movement from several aspects. With the rapid growth of China抯 revolution, the literal works were asked to be closely related to social politics, and the May Thirtieth Movement brought about a great deal of the literal works of opposing imperialism which played a pioneer role in the anti-imperialism literature with wide significance after 1 930s.and it also points out that the May Fourth Neo-literature plays a leading role of intellectual enlightenment in the May Fourth Movement; the May Fourth Movement hastened parturition of anti-imperialism perception of the May Fourth Neo-literature, and the May Thirtieth Movement gave another incentive to its growth and made it blossom. Moreover, the dissertation makes a further point that the influence, hastening, impulse are all the result of the epoch background and the writer subject at the period of the May Fourth Movement. The creation of the May Fourth Neo-literature was influenced deeply by those writers?experience, especially their practices in political movement, their traditional mettles of being concerning about their country and people and the cultural values of the western ideal mode. This made the anti-feudalism that gave first place to criticizing the Chinese characteristics of deep-rooted bad traits become a leading force in the May Fourth Neo-literature. However, the epoch background is full of serious national crisis, in particular, the contradiction between China and Japan developed into China抯 major contradiction, and the writers at the period of the May Fourth Movement did not have a distinct recognition about Britain-American imperialism. These facts made anti-Japanese imperialism more evident in the creation of Neo-literature, in the comparison with that, and the literal works of opposing British-American imperialism seemed to be fewer.
