Literary painting was the main trend of ancient chinese painting, and cherished distinctive cultural backgounds. Is the accumulation and development of thousands years?experiences reflect the declination of literary painting? By retrospecting its histries , searching after its aesthetic traits ,analysing some concrete artistical practises, this essay is trying to inquire into the aesthetic pursuits and way outs of modern literay painting. This paper argues that , in inquring into above significant issues, if we are unclear about what the essences of the literary painting are, we will easily digress from the main subjects and lose its direction when exploring its aesthetics. It is Starting From Heart that not only was the most important essence of Chinese painting, but also becomes the traditon that modern literay painting must keep firmly to and carry forward, What is the need or ache for litaray s painting? The answer is simple and beauty. Now we are in an international and informative century when communication is easily accessible. It is better to say we should absorb others experiences to our system rather than be stimulated by them. Placing Chinese as the first priority, we have to enrich its content. Holding the viewpoint of extracting Western and past elements to the use of chinese and present, we deeply believe that litearay painting has valuable existing and developing potential power.Through analysing the successful artistical practises of Chai Pa Sek,Poon Tin Shou,Ng Guan Zhong,Ka Yon Fo and Ling Nan School, this paper showes us a tentative train of aesthetic thought of modern literary painting.
