The Studies On DuFu's Thoughts Of Political Reform

On the basis of the extensive reading of the extant poems of DuFu抯 and the relative data, the essay put forward the views that DuFu,as a political poet, bore in his mind the thoughts of the systematic political reform. DuFu was familiar with the Confucian ideology that the people are the root of a country. But his accomplishment in self-cultivation prevents him form radical thoughts. So the thoughts of political reform come into being at the time of AnShi turmoil. The essay makes a thorough analysis of DuFu thoughts of political reform such as the view that a monarch must enhance his self-cultivation, the view that sovereign must reduce the tax from people, the view that eunuch should be dismissed from their government posts and men of supper capacity should be assigned to the post and their opinions should be permitted to come up with, the view that punishment must be mitigated, the view that border defence should be enhanced and two countries should have always been good neighbours, and the view that a distinction must be made between different ethnic groups. DuFu thoughts of political reform was on the basis of the humanitarianism of the Confucian ideology and had its actual example? politics in ZhenGuan period. DuFu thoughts of political reform had given strong influence on politics, ideology and literature.
