Mobilized by the believers of Vegetarian Society in 1895, Religions Case in Gutian attracted lots of attention for its complicated and unique social and historical reasons. On the base of the predecessors' achievements, this paper makes a systematic and thorough exploration of the relations between the Vegetarian Religion and the Religion Case in Gutian with the analyses of quantity and comparision. This paper draws a conclusion: Viewed from its reasons, the Religion Case in Gutian had the visible character of anti-fedualism. Originated from Jiangxi Vegetarian society, and was influenced by vegetarian society and other folk regions in Fujian, the Vegetarian Religion was mainly composed of lower strata, resulting in its basic contradictions with feudal society which was the major factor that led to the Case. In addition, the anti-foreign feeling of the masses, the exclusiveness of the Religion and other accidental factors also had their influences. The outbreak of the Case hit the rule of Qing Dynasty and the Influence of foreign Christianity to a certain degree and resulted in the united suppression of Chinese and foreign hostile powers. Because of its powerful enemy, andits limitations such as blindness, slackness, led to the Case's failure. Through the study of the relations of the Religion and the Case, we can master the character of the Case: the reciprocal effect between the nongovernmental secret society and modern case, thus made a further study in the history of Culture, Religion and Diplomacy in Fujian.
