William Faulkner is not only a local writer but also a humanitarian. Since his cultural background of Christianity, Faulkner's humanitarianism is the Christian one which bears a bright Christian color. As an author of the 20th century, Faulkner understands deeply the tragic plight of modern man, so his novels are full of tragic consciousness. He also displays a postmodern consciousness ahead of the times. But what makes Faulkner great is that he remains close attention to the real life all his life, and depicts on the authentic soul of human being unflinchingly.
