The Study to Marriagesin Earlier Stage of Tang Dynasty (618~763) Specialty: Ancient History of ChinaPostgraduate: Wei Yong-feng Supervisor: Wang Yan-pingThe Tang Dynasty, an important period in ancient history of China, is a peak of the social development in ancient China. The unprecedented vast territory gave more chances for the Tang Dynasty to associate with more minority nationalities. But it was some important jobs that how to get along with minority nationalities, how to work out some practical national policies and how to plan the overall strategy of the country in East Asia. There was a lot of Marriage that was wide in scope and had distinguishing features in the associations with minority nationalities. On the basis of recent related researches, this paper approaches this affair from a new perspective.This paper consists of three parts. In the first part, it is taken over the origin of Marriage, and defined Marriage and the princess of Marriage. The second part deals with the questions on sorting out the historical facts of Marriage and briefing on the detailed situations of Marriage; besides, it is discussed that some correlative historical events was born in this time. There are some questions are examined and corrected in this part, too. At last, Marriage is brought into the overall frontier strategy of Tang Dynasty to analyze. Marriages in earlier stage of the Tang Dynasty are one of the parts of the historical objects. When the Tang Dynasty was set up, the practical national policies of it embodied ripe. It was the result that the rulers had drawn historical lessons and experiences. It was the summing-up that Li Yuan and Li Shi-min had contacted with minority nationalities in long-term, too. The practical national policies became the fundamental guiding policy of the Tang Dynasty. The key idea of it was put placation and conciliatory into the first place, and sending armed force to suppress was the supplementary means. Marriage occupied a important position in this strategically idea. In earlier stage of the tang dynasty, each Marriage has its different goal. But it could always serve the overall strategy of the country. It was important historical intention to form the unitary unlit-national state.
