The Artistic Style And Achievement Of Li Bai's Pentasyllabic Quatrain

Most researches about Li Bai's poems foucus on his Music Bureau and heptasyllabic. I think that it is not enough. Li Bai have so many famous pentasyllable quatrains. He is the most superist poet in numbers of masterpiece through ages. It is the esthetic value of these pentasyllabbic quatrains that determines they are well worth researching.In addition,the reseaches about quatrain is still imperfect. For example,ignoring the diffeerenc between pentasyllable quatrain and heptasyllabic quatrain,or attaching more importance to hepatsyllabic quatrains. I hold that pentasyllable quatrain is different to heptasyllabic quatrain in two aspects at least. One is tunes. Heptasyllabic quatrain is easy to tune harmonious and elegant though its rules of rhyming because it is two more scripts than pentasyllable quatrain.The other is degree of difficulty when writing them. Chinese character is an integerance of morphemand,pronunciation and meaning. Adding two Chinese character to a verse is of advantage to broading artistic space of a poem. Besides,pentasyllable quatrain and heptasyllabic quatrain must meet the artistic demands of quatrain-having implication and lingering charm. So,writing pentasyllable quatrain well is very difficult. We should sum up 11 Bai's writing expirence because he can write pentasyllable quatrain so wellLi Bai's pentasyllable quatrain have three obviously different style. One is implicication,by using sentence pattern of question,using association and allusion. The other is refreshing-I mean the language and taste. Another style is vigorous and sprightly,we can feel LiBai's bold and uninhabited character throght the theme he writed and some exaggerate rhetoric he used. Not all LiBai's pentasyllable quatrains are good. Observing those masterpieces appreciated for long time,I think there are three reasons that can explain why Li Bai's pentasyllabic quatrain is so famous. First,the poem's langrage is steroscope. Li Bai is good at making use of mussnone,as makes most of his pentasyllabic quatrain are very vivid. We just like seeing pictures when we reading them. Second,he is good at creating creative concept. Image,play a positive role in the field. The image used in his pentasyllabic quatrains increase the profound meaning of the poems because they contain a great deal of Chinese culture tradition. Third,the intention of Li Bai's pentasyllabic quatrain is more profound and subtle than other's pentasyllabic quatrains that have same theme are. Among these achievements,I consider the first two stem from learning the sentence pattern and artistic conception created by his predecessors. Li Bai is good at choosing sentence pattern that is beneficial for forming implication and at synthesizing other's artistic conception.Though his writing inherite his predecessorsand ,he exceed them. The third achievement can not imitate because it stems from Li Bai's sensitivity and expressional ability-that is why people call him genius.LiBai's pentasyllabic quatrain enrich the expressional technique of literature,supply a lot of expirences for us.
