A sound knowledge about the lexical features of persuasive public speaking English (PPS) is of great importance to those who are engaged in giving persuasive public speeches as well as those who want to improve their English by listening to public speeches. This paper concentrates on the lexical features of PPS,such as the distribution of words, type of words and word formation in PPS,as compared with the other corpora,BENR (broadcast English news reporting),LOBA,BROWNA and CEB4 vocabulary. The detailed analysis is given on the data generated by computer programs. It is concluded that persuasive public speaking English exhibits many lexical features of its own apart from the similarities with BENR,LOBA and BROWNA.
