By comparing Chinese spring palace paintings with westen nudes (mainly those of Renaissance), and in several big aspects such as screen character, sculpted skill and sociocultural root, the treatise tends to enduce the differences between the two art and explain the reasons.First, different aims in painting. Westen nudes try to copy real bodies, yet Chinese spring palace paintings tend to portray bodies' pose and spirit. And as a result, Chinese ancient painters never used manikin when they were working, however, in order to chase so-called " perfect beauty ", westen painters had to resort to manikin which they thought as "natural mirror". Second, different methods in expressing screen spaces. Westen nudes always give a vivid space so as to make people feel personally on the scene; whereas Chinese spring palace paintings focus on making a literary atmosphere through plane-dividing and literature input. The third, different backgrounds. Chinese spring palace paintings pay much attention to clothes. One aim is to give erotic implication, and the other is to endow clothes with some special meanings. But in westen nudes, clothes hardly have any sex hints and were used only to foil naked figures. The fouth, different sex imago. Chinese spring palace paintings have vagarious interest in embroidered shoes and tootsies, but as for westen nudes, they deeply fall in love with women's breast. All in all, Chinese spring palace paintings are inclined to poetic imagination, yet westen nudes commit themselves to veracious expression. Westen people tend to confirm their ideal dreams about human bodies through the appreciation of wonderful figures, however, ancient Chinese people used Chinese spring palace paintings to tell then: infatuations and understandings of human bodies, and to reflect their healthy sex conception.
