Translation Of Dramatic Speech Action--Theoretical Exploration And Exemplification Of A New Criterion Of Drama Translation

Due to the specialty of dramatic text, the study of drama translation seems to have been neglected by drama theoreticians and translators. Thus the study in this field has not reached the same height as the translation of other literary genres has done.For the present, there are two criteria prevailing in the field of drama translation, while they are far from satisfactory. After reviewing the indefiniteness of these two criteria, I will try to raise my own standard for drama translation.Within the frameworks of Poly functionality of dramatic speech and a translation-oriented model of text functions, I try to do a theoretical exploration of my new criteria for drama translation and to support my point of view with an exemplification.By doing so, I hope to attribute something new to the study of drama translation. And at the same time, I also want to arouse theoretical discussions of drama translation, a neglected area of study so that more contribution will be made to it.
