A Study On The Development Of Chinese Politics In Sarawak

Chinese politics in Sarawak is a typical of Chinese politics overseas. This article takes Sarawak (a state of Ma I ays i a) as a case. On studying particular factors of geography, history, politics and economics in Sarawak,the article observes the history of the development in Chinese politics in Sarawak during the period from mid-term of 19th to the late of 20th. We hope to have a profound understanding about Chinese pol itics overseas through the case. The study shows that the mature in Chinese political psychology needs a long term. At first, during the Brooks' reigining time, Chinese overseas were regardless of politics, then before and after the Second World War, Chinese cared for China and Sarawak, and then Chinese have been taking active part in the local politics. During this process, Chinese political psychology in Sarawak has been strengthening. Particularly under the system of the multiple-political -party politics in Malaysia, Chinese political psychology in Sarawak tends to be mature. In political value,they come to be rational,that's consultation instead of confrontation. They look forward to harmoniously sharing political power with other groups and constructing their beatiful hometown in a stable environment together.From the history of the development of Chinese politics in Sarawak, we can see that though Chinese have been working hard and want to be in really harmony with the local soc i ety . But up to now, it i s on I y a beat i f u I dream. It i s a I ong way that Chinese in Sarawak win over completely equal status.
