Since the birth of Chinese opera in the early part of the 20th century, it has become an important aspect of Chinese performing arts. During its development, European operas and traditional Chinese culture,especially Chinese XiQu,have influenced Chinese opera. Chinese opera has absorbed and drawn from the many rich artistic and performing concepts of Chinese XiQu. As a result of the deep influence Chinese XiQu has on Chinese opera, it can be clearly distinguished from Western operas. By having many aspects of Chinese XiQu in its composition, it fulfils the needs of Chinese audiences. Thereby also promoting the progress of Chinese opera.This article explores the various ways in which Chinese opera has been influenced by Chinese XiQu and shows the links between Chinese opera and Chinese XiQu. Through extensive collection of materials and information related to Chinese opera and using the techniques of comparison and logical analysis, a deep exploration of its performing style and evolutionary course is attained.Chinese opera has greatly benefited from Chinese XiQu. It has absorbed from it XiJu literature, XiQu poetry, singing techniques, expressions and performance style. Under the current situation, it is important for Chinese opera to pay attention and learn from the arts of Chinese XiQu.
