It's held by some literary scholars that the majority of feminine works in "Strange Story Form a Scholar's Study" reflects the writer's progressive view of women, and that only a small portion belongs to feudalistic dregs. The research of the book, therefore, should be done in a dialectical way. This is actually a separation of the writer's complete ideological system, and is not scientific. The author of the present thesis believes that the majority of feminine works in the book is marked with the traits of that time and the writer as a feudalistic scholar, including some conservative and subjective contents. Based on this, the author of the paper attempts to make an analysis from a different perspective of the feminine works, which were once thought to contain progressive ideas, so as to achieve an accurate and complete understanding of the writer's feminine awareness.The paper including the introduction, the body, which is divided into three chapters, and the conclusion.The introduction part generally states the reasons why the author chose this topic, and gives a simple presentation of the perspective and thoughts of the research.In the body part, the first chapter is the key point of the whole paper, mainly discussing the view of love reflected in the book. In the first section, the author discusses the writer's complex of intellectual. Pu Songlin became famous when still young but failed successively in the Imperial Exam. He showed in his works his high expectation of a scholar's self-value. The second section discusses four patterns of love appearing in Pu's works, in which the writer showed strong subjective and masculine tendency when evaluates the feeling betweens the male and female characters. In the third section, the author makes a summary of the backward view of love reflected in "Strange Story Form a Scholar's Study".The second chapter discusses the writer's outlook on family. The first section reveals that the writer did sympathize with the women who suffered form spiritual oppression and distorted individuality. In the second section, the author criticized the writer for regarding the women's rebellious character as the major cause of family conflicts.The third chapter also consists of three sections. The first section presents thewriter's outlook on feministic value by analysis the feminine chivalrous stories. The second section sums up the writer's feminine awareness reflected in "Strange Stories From a Scholar's Study". The third section points out the reason that the feminine awareness was constructed in the stories by analyzing the writing principles of the book. In the conclusion, the author males an assessment of the writer, Pu Songlin's feminine awareness, and points out the reasons why the previous evaluations have over praised the book.
