Content: Through collecting and summarizing facts of Catholic's propagating in Jiangxi during Ming and Qing dynasties, this paper describes a general picture of Catholic's activities in Jiangxi local society, in which the Catholic missionaries, Chinese Catholic, gentlemen and literatures, and officials act as the main roles. This paper is distributed into four chapters as follows:Chapter 1: Matteo Ricci in Jiangxi. This part focuses on Matteo Ricci's activities in Jiangxi, with concerns of the formation and practices of his accommodation strategy. Benefited from the geographical, socio-economical and cultural predominance of Jiangxi, Father Ricci carries out the accommodation strategy and put it into practice. Jiangxi is significant to Mattero Ricci's later success, without which he could hardly get the mature idea of how to propagating the Catholic in China.Chapter 2: The propagating of Catholic in Jiangxi during late Ming and early Qing dynasties. This part investigates several prefects in Jiangxi, their establishment of Catholic, which are mainly created by Jesuits, during late Ming and early Qing. Besides, Jesuits' working methods, conflicts between Catholic and Buddhist and Taoism, and problems of women converts are also concerned subjects. This paper holds that after many years of hardworking, Missionaries established a solid tradition of Catholic by early Qing, and the Christianity has become part of common people's life.Chpater 3: The propagating of Catholic in mid-Qing. Jiangxi is still a good place for many missionaries preaching secretly after the prosecution movement in 1724. They pass through Jiangxi on the escorting way or hide in Jiangxi with the cause of medicine care. In this way, Jiangxi became a necessary place when both foreign and Chinese missionaries secretly enter inner land of China. During Qianlong and Jiaqing periods, two Christianity cases take place in Jiangxi, which suggest that there are still Catholic activities in Jiangxi during the prosecution time. While from the diflerent attitudes of local officials to the cases, the paper argues that shuffle attitudes of high official or lower official create space for the Catholic in the difficult circumstance, and that is why it continues.Chapter 4: Lazarists in Jiangxi. After the Jesuit Mission is dismissed in 1785, Lazarist Mission takes it place. The Lazarists is superior in Jiangxi not only on time of staying, but also on amounts of missionary and propagating area aspects. However, conflicts between local people and Catholic are always the main problems of this century. In a word, this paper concludes that Jiangxi offers a good local environment for Matteo Ricci's promoting and practicing his accommodation policy. Catholic missionaries work in various ways and establish several Catholic points successfully. Moreover, they propagate the religion to rural areas and make it a part of common people's life. Leaks of local bureaucratic system give the Catholics a chance to exist in the prosecution time. After the Lazarists take place of Jesuits in mid-Qing, Catholic in Jiangxi is improved a lot, however, common people ,yet not the government becomes the Catholic's opposition.
