The Study Of Lei Pian's Mutual Commenting

Lei Plan, a word dictionary compiled by government official in the Song Dynasty, had the advantage of other word dictionaries and rhyming dictionaries. It puted forth efforts on discussing the original words, ancient syllable and ancient exegesis and standed for the development level of philologiacl studies in the Song Dynasty. But there were a few special subject articles about Lei Plan. To understand the word dictionary more comprehensivly and more accurately, my article more thoroughly analyses and discusses the problem, "Lei Plan's mutual commenting ".The article mostly uses the methods, such as historical comparative method, classified explanation method, semantic meaning analysis method, and so on.The article is mainly made up of 5 sections.The first section is the type of mutual commenting. There are 4 types. The first is "A,B"and "B,A".The second is "A,B"and "B,AB(or BA)".The third is "A,B"and "B, XXA'YThe fourth is "A,B"and "B' ,A".The second section is the foundation of mutual commenting. Lei Plan's mutual commenting mainly directly drew lessons from these material in historical word dictionaries and rhyming dictionaries. Some were directly quoted, others were necessarily added and deleted.In addition, some sections drew lessons from former dynasty's documentary material and scholar's research fruit and collected and recorded practical language. Other sections were in the light of ancient and modern speech sounds change. This is one of the article's importance.The third section is the comparison of the mutual commenting in Lei Plan and Shuo Wen Jie Zi. The former mainly improved two sides in comparison with the later.In the first place, there was the explanation of the words meaning, that was to say, Lei Plan quoted the most mutual commentings in Shuo Wen Jie Z/.Moreover, it was more important that some mutual commentings in Lei Pian were fully added and remarked. This made the same and different meaning of mutual commented words more distinct. In the second place, some mutual commentings in Shuo Wen Jie Zi separated unbroken words to yield to themutual commenting. But these errors were mostly corrected in Lei Plan. This is its one of ture value.The fourth section analyses the semantic meaning relation between the mutual commented words from semantic angle. Breaking the traditional method which analyses synonym or near synonym, the section analyses the same meaning place and the unsame meaning place, which starts with the deep structure of language, the meaning place. After that, several different semantic meaning characteristics are fully discussed in the same meaning place, such as colour semantic meaning characteristic, space semantic meaning characteristic, time semantic meaning characteristic, character semantic meaning characteristic, grammar semantic meaning characteristic, and so on. After analyzing these, the mutual commented words(or synonym)can be more easily discriminated. This is also one of the article's importance.The fifth section simply discusses the mutual commented words and the mordern Chinese disyllabic words. The disyllabic words' forming is affected by many factors. Among these factors, inheritting ancient Chinese is an important source. More than three hundred groups mutual commented words in Lei Plan have formed more than one hundred disyllabic words. This rate fully proves that the mutual commented words have extremely affected disyllabic words. The formed disyllabic words give first place to coordinate structure and supplementary structure. There are many coordinate structure combination, such as, "n.+n.", "v.+v.", "a.+a.", and so on.After discussing each section, we can more clearly recognize the value of Lei Pian.This will not only help us more impartially and objectively evaluate it and establish its position in the developing history of Chinese ancient character, but also help us better recognize and understand synonyms and disyllabic words in the modern Chinese.
