He thinks he is full of contradiction, especially in his religious belief. Influenced by his family and sohool educati on, he became a Christian when he was young. After graduating from college, he s tudied traditioral Corfucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism and clacmed that his only religious belief was Humanism. He has called him self heathen fo r thirty years ,and at the end of 1950's, he was converted to Christianity, whic hwas his last religious belief. The author tries hard to find his deep thoughts in religion and makes sure that Lin Yutang is a real humanist. Humanism,the com bination of the eastern and western idecvs, is his ideal religion, and he comes back to the God in the end.
