Walter Benjamin was one of the famous German thinker in the 20th century. Started with his views on literary works and critique,the paper tried to explain his opinions.The paper is composed of three parts which are involved the following contents:The first part is Benjamin's views on literary works.He thought that both literature and art works are expressions of truth..Literature and art works are consisted of the subject matter and the truth matter.The truth determines the subject matter of literature and art works.The essence of literature is allegory which is the true demonstration of Nature and Hi story. Allegory is not the skill of literature or rhetoric medium ,it is an important aesthetic form.Benjamin concluded that the Modernism literature and art works are allegories.The other point of his opinions is that literature and art works are made by technique and reason.During the process of making technique is the key.The second part is Benjamin's views on critique.He believed that the critique must understand the truth of literature works.The process of understanding is to undermine the work. Critique destroies the beauty outside the work.Qution is the most effective medium.Benjamin thought that the standards of critique are reflection and the spirit of times.The opinion reach a common understanding with his views on literature.Reflection means that the truth hidden in works should be reflected by the reader and critic.The spirit of times means literature and art works must march forward with the trend of the times. Literature and art works existed in different times have different characristics.The third part is the evulation of the writer of paper.Aimed at Benjamin's opions on literature and art,I put forward my understanding.I thought that his view should be evulated from the pros and cons.Benjamin's thinking has not positive and progressive strength but negtive and biased meaning.
