Heidegger's Critique On Science And Technology From Truth View Point

Traditional truth view is a kind of correspondence theory, it claims that truth is the consistent of subjective understanding and objective reality. This kind of truth view has a long history and has different manifestations in different ages, Aristotelians believe that truth is the consistent of subjective understanding with the nature of entities; people in middle ages believe that truth is the consistent of subjective understanding with God's idea or Bible; while modern science believes it is the consistent of subjective understanding with mathematical laws. Correspondence is the most important feature of this kind of truth view, but it take separation as premise in advance, however, it comes from the tradition of essentialism and binary way of thinking. Ancient Greek has talked about the problem of "source", they believe that phenomenon is changeable, while the source is perpetual. After that, Plato make the definite distinguish about phenomenon and essence, and this kind of truth view comes into being. However, this kind of truth view faces all kinds of dilemma, the most important one is that, how can a man go beyond the subjective rage to grasp objective entities.Heidegger point out that this kind of truth view is not the primordial one, and he hold that the meaning of truth is aletheia, it means unclose, while science and technology is also a kind of unclose, so science and technology has inner link with truth. However, the essence of primordial truth is freedom, it lets entity show itself from itself and in itself, while science and technology is not Dasein's primordial existence, Dasein's primordial existence is being in the world, wherein there is no distinguish about subject and object, entities in the word is ready to hand, but in some breakage, subject and object separate with each other, and scientific understanding comes into being. And then it becomes the leading role, technological age arrived.However, when science and technology becomes the leading role, it becomes a kind of impose, and entities'richness is ignored, they lost themselves and integrity, let along dignity and sanctity. From the perspective of technology, every thing is materialized and becomes unified and undifferentiated, they have no difference in quality, and being considered only from the function they possess. Heidegger told us to reflect our living conditions, science and technology is not must be a progress of history.
