| By observing more than 1.5million language material both in oral and written, this paper is to analyze the similarities and differences between adverb "dao" and "que" in expressing contrast meaning and mood meaning through makeing use of various methods such as hiberarchy analysis, transform analysis, semantic feature analysis, canto analysis, pragmatics analysis, contrast analysis, statistic analysis, experiment analysis, and puts forward conclusion as follows:Both "dao" and "que" can convey contrasting meaning, however "dao" often conveys comparisive contrast while "que" usually conveys contradictive contrast in the matter of conveying semantic meaning. In respect of conveying mood, both "dao" and "que" can enhance or add mood. During communicating information, the focus of sentence containing "dao" can locate at the head, middle or end of a sentence while the focus of sentence containing "que" can only locate at the end of a sentence. The prominent focus in sentence of "dao" is both topic and statement focus while the one in sentence of "que" is usually statement focus more than topic focus. Moreover the reflect range of focus of "dao" can be both in and out of a sentence but that of "que" is often in a sentence. Seen from cognitive function, "dao" usually is used in dynamic speech sentence but "que" often is used in static state language sentence. |
