The Study Of The "Verb-object Group Followed By An Object" (V·O+O₁) Structure

The application of the " verb-object group followed by an object" structure (it is recorded as "V·O+ O1"in this thesis)is on the increase, such as "(Nanfang daily) is ranked as one of the largest 50 companies", "to hold the Redar Bank stock" , " (Zhangguorong) learning from Jiangwen ", and this structure tend to be fixed and productive. Many study has focused on this topic, talking about the tendency of "V · O+ O1", analyzing V· O , O1 and the relation between them, also the cause of this structure tendency. This thesis focuses on interpreting the components, the meaning and the motivation of this structure on the base of the former studies.Firstly, the thesis analyzes the formation, the meaning and the syntax relation of "V ·O+ O1"; Secondly, it analyzes the syntax function; meaning character and internal meaning relation by transforming its form, thus finding the different meaning of the same grammatical structure. There are two sorts semantic relation in "V ·O+ O1" : "to govern" and "to modify". Besides depicturing, analyzing and sorting, we try to interpret more about this structure. In my opinion, the forming of this structure has its inner motivations and outer ones. The inner motivations include grammar and meaning: the grammatical motivation is compound evolution of V · O , the meaning motivation conclude that weak action of V · O and atypical object O1; The outer motivation is different grammatical functions of a word, and Chinese language psychology that is taking the implied meaning of a structure more important than it's formation. In conclusion, "V · O+ O1" is a simple structure with completed meaning, and much more is meant that meets the eyes, which answers for the Chinese humanistic character.
