The Acceptance History Of Xie Tiao's Poetry In Qi, Liang, Sui And Tang Dynasties

Xie Tiao , famous for his poetry in his time, has greatly influenced poets in later ages .His poetry ,especially the mountains-and-waters poetry, is characterized by delicate and beautiful in style , and harmonious in tone and rhythm. Although older generations obtain brilliant achievements in studying Xie Tiao himself and his poetry, still exist some one-sided opinions. The reason is that readers' acceptance process of the poet and his poetry is also a significant link in the course of literary development, and that the process is an important aspect to a deep understanding of the poet and the quality of his poems, and also an important step to summarize the laws of literary development. So instead of from the angle of the poet himself and what he is written, the thesis approaches the poetry of Xie Tiao from the reviews and inheritance of readers in successive dynasties so as to induce the acceptance clue of his poetry. Furthermore, since the final establishment of the status of Xie Tiao in poetic field is in mid-Tang dynasty, this thesis involves reviews to the Middle of Tang dynasty although this thesis is entitled The Acceptance History in Qi , Liang, Sui And Tang Dynasties.This thesis probes into the subject of the acceptance history of the poetry Xie Tiao from the following perspective:First, acceptance of poetic style. This chapter focuses on the process of people' s knowledge to the style of Xie' s poetry. To show the dynamic development of literature, this paper highlights such seven poets as Xie Tiao , Shen Yue, Zhong Rong , Xiao ZiXian , Li Pai , Du Fu , Jiao Ran by following a clue of time. Four questions are discussed in this part, a) The proposition of delicate and beautiful style. Such comments show the deepening of knowledge to the poetry of Xie Tiao as made by Xuan Hui, i. e. "Good poems should be smooth and beautiful that flowlike pellets" ; by Shen Yue, i.e. "The thought should be above wind and cloud "; by Zhong Rong; i.e. "a little too meticulous " ; by Xiao Zi Xian, i.e. "Xie Tiao' s poetry is delicate and beautiful" . b) The acceptance of Li Bai to "fresh and natural" style of the poetry of Xie Tiao. Li Bai' s comments are seen in some of his poems that can be roughly divided into three kinds: one is that'directly evaluates the style of the poetry of Xie Tiao; another is that makes remarks on some verses of Xie Tiao; the third one is about feelings rising when the poet saw some special sceneries, memorized ascendants and missed his friends. From these poems, we arrive at the key acceptance point of Li Pai from Xie' s poetry: fresh and natural style . c) The acceptance of Du Fu to delicate and beautiful style of the poetry Xie Tiao. Three acceptance points of Xie' s poetry are as following: Xie Tiao' s creative work is successful; The style of Xie' s poetry is delicate and beautiful; The short poems of Xie Tiao are better than his longer ones, d) Jiao Ran, an excellent theorist on poetic style of Xie Tiao, through comparing Xie' s poetry with successive poems, generalizes the poetry ofXie Tiao as delicacy and affection .His comments are more rational, systematic and orderly than those of other literary critics before.Second, the rhythmic acceptance. The traditional subject that "the poetic rhythm in Tang dynasty begins with Shen Yue " is discussed in this chapter. Three periods of Qi,Ling , Sui and the beginning of Tang dynasty are selected. This is a process from disputation, suspicion to approval. There are three points: a) Shen Yue , Zhong Rong and the idea that "The tone is harmonious with metal and stone" . b) Si Sheng Zi Gui , the book about the acceptance of Xie' s poetry in Bei Chao and Sui dynasty . c) Wen Jing Mi Fu Lun and the acceptance in Tang dynasty.Third, the content acceptance.
