Study On Classifiers In San Guo Zhi

Chinese is rich in classifiers, which is one of the most obvious characteristics of this language .The occurance of classifiers ,firstly in the form of oracle bone inscriptions .dates back to as early as 3000 years ago .Research on classifiers,however,came into being much later . As an important source book of the mid-ancient times ,San Guo Zhi is an important source text for the research on the history of Chinese ,Biit in a long historical process ,the research on the core elements ,such as the function words is still very fragmentary. So I choose San Guo Zhi as my studying object ,making an investigation into the classifiers in it and trying to recognize the characteristics of Chinese classifier's outline in Wei-Jin Dynasty and some regularities of the development of classifiers .The thesis consists of three parts.Part One: Introduction.In this part ,1 give a brief introduction of Chen Shou and his time ,the research value of San GHO Zhi and also give a brief account of what our predecessors have studied about it .It shows the methods and significances of the study . Part Two: The classifiers in San Guo Zhi.In this part ,1 introduce the classifiers in San Guo Zhi according to their classifications . I mainly conduct through classifies ,make extrats and describe classifiers in this book one by one basing on the investigation .1 study part classifiers 'developing situation ,make a synchronic comparison to specific classifiers and sort out the system of the classifiers in San Guo Zhi in some degree . There are eighty-three classifiers in San Guo Zhi . At first, we divide these classifiers into two great kinds : classifiers for nouns and classifiers forverbs ,then divide the classifiers for nouns into four little kinds: measurable-classifiers , individual-nominal-classifiers ,collective-nominal-classifiers and temporary-classifiers The amount of the classifiers for nouns is seventy-six and the latter is six . In order to depict every sort of the classifiers in it .1 adopt the following steps :First, give the definition of every sort of classifier and reassign then into some smaller types according to their characterists .Second, depict the classifiers one by one .During the course of the depiction ,1 not onlyexplain the meaning and usage with many examples ,but also compare and analyse the classifiers that are similar in usage .Part Three: The analysis of the classifiers'usage in San Guo Zhi.In this part , I sum up the characters of the classifiers in San Guo Zhi from three aspects :the characteristics of usage , the categories of structure and the frequency in using classifiers . I append a form ,which reflects the detailed usage about classifiers , so as to form a system and quantitative knowledge with regard to the classifiers in San Guo Zhi .At last, I sum up the characteristics of numeral-classifier compound's expression in the early phase of the mid -ancient time reflected in San Guo Zhi.
