A Comparison Between English And Chinese Dimension Adjectives And Classified-vocabulary-teaching

This thesis takes the English and Chinese space dimension adjectives as the research project,and the research results on the English and Chinese space dimension adjectives have been very fruitful.However,the combination with Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages is less.The dimension adjectives are mainly used in the space domain,then project to other domains.From spatial meanings,they developed other non-spatial meanings,much of the them are metaphorical meanings.This thesis mainly includes the following aspects.First of all,we use the dictionary to paraphrase the English and Chinese dimension adjectives,and give examples of the use of spatial dimensions.Then,we combine with corpus,select some of the corpus to explain the uses in other domains,briefly analyze the non-corresponding situation,and explain some linguistic phenomenon.We find that they have similarities when they project to other domains.It suggests that there are commonalities between different nationalities' experience of outer space.Because of different cultures and cognitive styles,there are differences when they project to other domains.It's due to the characteristics of English and Chinese and cultures.Secondly,we take the modern Chinese space dimension adjectives as a category,to carryout "classified-vocabulary-teaching" design.At First we analyze the basic theories of linguistic,psychology and pedagogy.Then we select The Graded Chinese Syllables,Characters and Words for the Application of Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages(level3)advanced vocabulary of space dimension "high",a blend of 18 compound words,on the teaching design.Finally,we give some thoughts and suggestions on "classified-vocabulary-teaching".Mainly about the application of teaching and the embodiment of the text book.
