Oil paintings was introduced into china as a heterogeneous culture of western Countries, but it did not come into being one part of Chinese main culture during Ming and Qin Dynasty. In morden times, oil paintings magically became a chief part of Chinese arts of painting, after many students studied in Japan and western countries, which led to its standing up to Chinese arts as an equal. Because of the different countries where the students abroad studied, individual orientation, and different social factors, oil paintings had a congenital deficiency ,and was lack of proper care after its birth. Its strength and defects are to call for deep thought. Looking back this history is to know the status quo and development of Chinese oil paintings. This paper presents two view points.1 ) the introduce of oil paintings is the need and choice of history and the development of itself;2) the history of introduce of oil paintings is that of pioneering working of students abroad.
