From the point of view of the identity crisis, the paper try to analyze the vanguard poetry's difficult situation between the history and reality and hope to gave a new way to understand and explain the vanguard poetry. The first chapter discussed the difficult problems during the course of reconstructing our cultural tradition and forming our cultural identity from the two aspects that traditional culture have lost and there have perplexed in the global context. The condition that the ancient cultural tradition has broken to pieces and modern cultural tradition has had the western style made the vanguard poetry not obtain the sense of belonging to a certain culture. It is possible for the western culture to offer the chance to reestablish the modern China culture, at the same time, there have dangerous that it would weaken the culture identity of china literature. The problem how to build the right relationship between China and the west world is still not solved yet.The second chapter pointed out the identity crisis to the group of poets from the marginal situation of poetry and the poets splitting into different groups in the course of the economical and cultural transformation. The marginal situation of poetry made it lose the central position in discourses and come to its right position, which were not accepted by poets. The desire that wanted to have the central position made the poets who have different writing styles struggle for the discourse power and resulted in failure of all, then, the individual writing was deconstructed by the collective tendency, The group identity is still vague. The third chapter discussed deeply the existential questions of the poets from ontological security and anxiety, belief dispersing and crisis, then pointed out the existential absence of poets is the final origin of all troubles. The modern society broke the time and space relationship and the individual had to reform his sense of time and space. At the same time, the institutional pressure of modern society also constantly cleared up the existential significance of subject. The poets in the 1990s put emphasis on the day-to-day life and narrative, which still couldn't reconstruct their sense of the true reality and have a stable foundation to their existence.Because of the collapse of traditional moral idealism, the belief crisis made the self-identity crisis of poets more intensive.
