From personal life experience and art of work, this article analyze the cause of the creation of the work 《additional works of LiuYa》 . Because of half of the author' s life was wasted in exams that could offer those who had good performance in those exams official jobs and ups and downs in the officialdom, the author came to form the attitude of criticism to society and thoughts of pessimism to life. At the same time, the author, XuKun who had broad vision of life as well as deep thoughts of life, formed the sense of life that is deep, abundant and hard. The tone of sadness got from the wane of view of value in the dying feudalism was everywhere in the author' s life as well as in the work. From the aspect of artistic form, it inherited style of legend that was used in the book of 《legend in the study》, what's more, some of his works also show out XuKun' s special aesthetic views. It showed a kind of thought that was ponderous and helpless from the wide representation of people and things in the world, presented a kind of environment that was refreshing, quiet and so far away from the description of the distinguished spirit of ghost in the other world, the dwindling spirit character and effeminacy from the description of existence state, thoughts and feelings of the famous people and knowledgable people. XuKun also expressed his creative ,special aesthetic trend by yearning for natural life and real and sincere personality in the other world that was different from current one he had and by praising the life of people who had unique style in the lower class of the folk society, which was far-reaching, sad and desolate. In a word, it is a sad melody of a flourish world that was between trueness and falseness by substitution of description of ghosts for his current society and people.
