Based on many investigations of adjectives, the paper mainly explores the quantity of adjectives in Modern Chinese. First of all, it simply reviews the state of study done by the former scholars, than it divides the adjectives into fixed-quantity adjectives and varied-quantity adjectives on a point of view of whether having been modified by the intensifiers. Moreover, it subdivides the varied-quantity adjectives into seven degrees in detail on the two aspects of subjectivity and objectivity. Secondly, the paper makes an investigation on collocation between the varied-quantity adjectives and intensifiers, points out that not all of the varied-quantity adjectives can be modified by different degrees of the intensifiers, and lists a lot of adjectives that can't be modified by the intensifiers. The co-occurrence of different degrees of the intensifiers has abo been mentioned. Thirdly, it analyzes the quantity of the fixed-quantity adjectives. At last, the author puts forward her opinions and points out the degree of the semantic of the adjectives may be a mam effect on collocation of the varied-quantity adjectives and intensifiers.
