| Sun Long was an outstanding painter who created a new style. Focused on Sun Long' s Mo-Gu ideal flower-and-bird painting, elaborated in the paper are the artistic features of these paintings. While combining the traditional Mo-Gu method with the ink-and-water ideal way, Sun long pursued the qualities of paintings by amateur literati, created a brand-new style of Mo-Gu flower-and-bird painting and made great artistic achievements, which has had a great influence on palace flower-and-bird painting in Ming Dynasty as well as on flower-and-bird painting by literati in later dynasties. Now, the artistic features are still instructive and helpful to the development and creation of Chinese flower-and-bird paintings.
